Lent is approaching - already. A season of repentance and self reflection. It begins on February 14 and ends on Easter. So, it's quite a stretch of self reflection and repentance. Some of us don't like that kind of time to take a deep dive into our own spirituality. Some of us love it. Some of us are so unsure of the word, repentance and
some of us had it ingrained in us as children. Lent reminds us that the road to deeper meaning in life is uncomfortable. That Christianity isn't always warm and fuzzy. Sometimes it's challenging and sometimes it crashes us about waking us up to new things. This Lent - I am focusing on us crashing about in a way. Being challenged and uncomfortable in faith so we can grow. How? By asking questions.
I would like to ask each of you to send me an email or a text asking a question of faith that challenges you. These questions I will focus on every Sunday during Lent....hopefully they'll extend into our conversations at Koffee Klatch or lunch and cause us to really dive deeper. The questions have no boundaries! An example would be - what do the different types of crosses mean? Or why are there only 12 disciples? Or why do bad things happen to good people? The sky's the limit and the sermons will be shaped by the depth of your questions. I'll also have some index cards out if you want to write a question on Sunday. I just need to have all the questions by Feb. 11!
I hope you and I will find this a fun and challenging sermon series to help us grow in faith this Lent.
