Reverend Jill Standley
Rev Jill started at Fairview on June 1, 2021. In September of 2021 she will celebrate 20 years of ordained ministry, 18 of that serving as a senior minister for three other churches in the KC area and Texas. A graduate of Texas Christian University with a degree in religious studies and a Masters in Divinity from Brite Divinity School, Rev. Jill is rooted in the Disciples tradition and is glad to serve the church in a way that reflects the unity and free interpretation of Scripture imparted to the Disciples tradition by its Founders. Rev Jill believes there is a beauty in differences of opinions and understandings, and that when all are welcome it truly means all. Rev. Jill finds God in the ordinary things of daily living - a tail wagging dog, the most perfectly ripened strawberry, or even in a simple conversation over coffee.
Her favorite quote is by Anne Frank - "I keep my ideals, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world. Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy."
Rev. Jill has a 12 going on 18 year old daughter named, Maddie, a really "big boned" dog named Maverick and a cat that lives up to her name of Princess. Her free time consists of sacred volleyball Sunday evenings, dinners and other shenanigans with friends, and home renovations.
