Mr. Robert H. Drummond, originally from Jameson, Missouri is now teaching in his hometown at North Daviess R-3 and is a resident of Gladstone, Missouri. He is pictured receiving the Missouri House of Representative Outstanding Missouri Citizen Resolution in honor of his dedicated service as music educator in Missouri and for his lifetime accomplishments in music. Presenting the Resolution to Mr. Drummond is Missouri Representative Bryan Spencer of Wentzville on 13 July 2013 at a ceremony in Rolla, Missouri. Missouri Representative Dr. Keith J. Frederick from Rolla and Missouri Representative Jon Carpenter from Gladstone also signed the Resolution.
Mr. Bob (Robert) Drummond, Director of Bands, is in his third year at North Daviess R-III Schools in Jameson, Missouri. He has 42 years experience as educator and band director in instrumental music at the public school level. He received his bachelors and masters degrees from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. He also completed extensive study at the University of Iowa.
Past honors include:
• Missouri Outstanding Band Director in 1990 awarded by Phi Beta Mu, National Bandmaster Fraternity, Lambda Chapter of Missouri
• Jess Cole Jazz Award awarded by the Missouri Unit of the International Association of Jazz Educators in 2002 for lifetime contributions to jazz education in Missouri.
Mr. Drummond is currently Director of 5 Star Jazz Band (www.5starjazzband.com) based in North Kansas City. 5 Star is a community nonprofit music education jazz band open to music students age 12-21. In its 6 year history, it has logged over 150 public performances in the bi-state region, and served 125-plus students from 26 different middle schools, high schools, and colleges. Concurrently he serves as Music Director at Fairview Christian Church in Gladstone, Missouri, (www.fairviewcc.org). During his entire career as music educator in Missouri public schools, Bob has also served as music director in various churches throughout the state.
