Story behind this deconstruction is below the slideshow.
Basement Waterproofing and Courtyard Renovation
Contractors are currently working to waterproof the subterranean wall on the north side of the sanctuary.
In addition, an exterior sump pump will be installed to remove any future water that might pool in this
underground area. Hopefully, this will finally eliminate the water infiltration that has been occurring over the past years in our basement.
To efficiently access this area with the heavy equipment needed to dig to the bottom of the foundation wall (approximately 10-12 feet deep), most of the concrete courtyard slabs had to be removed. Those broken, deteriorated concrete slabs had become a major tripping hazard for folks using the north entrance to the narthex anyway.
Obviously, once the waterproofing materials and the pumping systems are installed, the courtyard will be
reconstructed. Your patience during this messy time is greatly appreciated. We are all trying to build and
maintain God’s house at Fairview.
